3 Nights Galapagos with Children

ITINERARY

Upon arriving at Baltra Island, a guide will be awaiting your arrival to assist you to cross to Santa Cruz and visit the highlands. You will stop at the impressive Twin Craters known as “Los Gemelos”.
Afterwards, arrive in Puerto Ayora at the Charles Darwin Research Station. It is one of the best park interpretation centers highlighting what it means to humanity and how vital it is to protect all Galapagos species and their conservation. In the afternoon, a special chocolate tasting experience is planned for you. During the 60-minute activity, you will learn all about the Ecuador and Galapagos cacao and their differences, how farming began in the Galapagos and methods of how the cacao is processed. You will also have the opportunity to become an artisan chocolatier, learning all the tempering methods and art of making delicious chocolates.
Activities: Walk and chocolate experience.
In the morning you will visit Las Grietas. To arrive, take a trail past Playa Aleman, brackish lagoons, and you’ll reach the top of the grietas. The enormous crevice allows for an amazing opportunity to snorkel deep into the cracks and fissures between the two tall walls. After lunch at a local restaurant, you will visit Tortuga Bay. This is voted one of the most spectacular and beautiful beaches in the Galapagos. Walking there is part of the experience as you pass arid forests full of giant cacti sprouting yellow flowers. Finches, yellow warblers and lava lizards will cross your path along the paved trail. Swimming here is a great experience, but be mindful of strong undertows. The waves are perfect for surf lessons. Further down the beach there are shallow waters, great for a relaxing swim and snorkel, while observing the aquatic life. You will return to Puerto Ayora after this visit.
Activities: Swim, Snorkel, Walk, Surfing.
Today you’ll visit the highlands and witness how the islands were formed as you explore lava tunnels. Near the lava tunnels are highland ranches where Giant tortoises roam freely in their natural habitat. Walking a trail through the ranch you may find the tortoises eating or sitting in small, muddy pools. An added experience in the highlands is the “Trapiche”. You will learn how to make the popular liquor “Agua Ardiente” made from sugar cane, as well as a detailed organic coffee presentation of how it grows well in the volcanic soil. You will also participate in the Plant A Tree program with Royal Palm. You’ll plant the Miconia Robinsoniana, an endemic shrub in danger of extinction. Supporting the cause is one of the best ways to ensure your visit to the islands has a positive impact in the survival of these exceptional plants and wildlife species, aiding in their conservation.
Activities: Walk, Swim, Snorkel, Kayak
Today you will be provided a transfer to the airport on Baltra Island with assistance for your return flight to the mainland.

Hi Sofia, I wanted to give you some personal feedback. It was a long journey to get there. Thankful that you pushed me a bit to go.
I had a great time! The boat, crew, and other guests were the best. I will remember (and be working on photographs) for the rest of my life. I am putting some pics on Instagram if you do that. You can find me; there are not too many Todd Trasks. Thanks again. We only have so much time to do these sorts of things, and because of you, I did. Cheers,
