AREQUIPA & COLCA CANYON TOUR

2 Nights – 3 Days

Peru is a country with diverse regions from the rainforest, Andean highlands, and a desert full of excitement that cannot be missed.

Such sites include the most attractive city of Peru, Arequipa, with its white colored colonial-style buildings giving it the nickname of the “white city”.  You’ll enjoy the vibe and its relaxed atmosphere as the second largest city in the country, not to mention the incredible backdrop of three volcanoes in the distance.  Outside of the city is the charming village of Chivay and the nearby Colca Canyon, one of the largest in the world and twice as deep as the Grand Canyon.  Colca offers breath-taking views and terraced crops that have been cultivated since pre-Inca times by the locals and home to majestic wildlife like one of the world’s largest birds, the Andean Condor, that you can watch soaring in the morning sun.

3 Days Arequipa & Colca Canyon

ITINERARY

Arriving at Arequipa airport you will be transferred to your hotel.  You’ll have an afternoon city tour beginning at the Santa Catalina Monastery.  The convent is a city within the city, founded at the end of the XVII century. The nuns have dedicated their entire lives to devotion and prayer in silence.  The city tour also includes the Main Plaza or Plaza de Armas, as all main plazas are called in Peru, as well as the Cathedral (closed on Sundays), the Jesuit Cloister and the residential areas of Cayma and Yanahuara. The tour will end at the “Mirador de Yanahuara” for a superb view of the three volcanoes that make up the bold outline of the city. (Private services).  You will return to your selected hotel afterwards.

You will depart for a two day visit to the Colca Valley (Private services). This tour is so impressive, not only for its appreciative beauty, but for the cultural interaction of the ancient Andean cultures and the Catholic religion introduced by the Spanish. In the early morning you’ll leave Arequipa and head towards the valley. On your way you’ll pass Yura, Pampa de Arrieros, and Pampa Cañahuas where you’ll find the Vicuña National Reserve of Aguada Blanca, Vizcachani and Tojra.  Here you can see a variety of migratory birds resting in so-called “bofedales”, or peat bogs, throughout the year.  As you enter the Colca Canyon you’ll arrive at its most important town, Chivay, where you’ll have lunch and an opportunity to mingle with locals and get a taste for a traditional Peruvian highland village. You’ll stay at your selected hotel.

Early in the morning you will begin the drive to the observation point called the “Cruz del Condor”. While this is not the deepest point of the Canyon, you can still appreciate the grandeur of the canyon and with a bit of luck, you may spot an Andean condor, one of the largest flying birds in the world, soaring across the high plain in search of their morning meal. Afterwards, you will be transferred to Puno to your selected hotel. (Private vehicle only).

Hello Vanessa & Sofia,

Patricio our driver, was pleasant and always smiling when we saw him no matter the time. A true asset for your company to work with someone like him.

My wife and I wanted to express how this trip so far exceeded our expectations ! Your companies attention to detail is below no other that we have worked with around the world. The staff on the Ocean Spray were top of the line as well.

Please let me know where I can post a review for other folks to learn about what a great company you all are.

Thank you,

At first, I was a little afraid because I found it on the internet, and there was not much information on Spanish websites, but after some research, we decided to buy it and were not disappointed.

Paula Anastasia

This was a wonderful trip for anyone Who loves nature, plants, and birds. Sealife. I did not have high expectations as I let my sister make all the bookings as this was her bucket list trip. The catamaran was clean and accommodating for two people l. I loved its many power outlets and a small vanity outside the water closet for hair care.
