2 Days Cotopaxi & Banos

ITINERARY

Shortly after leaving Quito, you arrive at Cotopaxi National Park. The outstanding sight is the imposing active volcano with its perfectly shaped cone topped by glaciers, visible from all over the region, making it one of the most iconic symbols of Ecuador. When entering the park, you’ll enjoy the hiking trail that loops around the Limpiopungo Lagoon. Your guide will explain more about the different species of birds, plants, and mammals that dwell in the area such as hummingbirds, fox, deer and the Andean condor among others. Continuing on with the day’s activities you will leave the highlands of Cotopaxi and descend into a contrasting atmosphere in Baños de Agua Santa. Very few places are as vibrant and energetic, or found among steep mountains, rivers, waterfalls, and hot springs. You’ll have time for a wonderful rest while you prepare for the following day’s adventure.

The morning is dedicated to exploring the Pailon del Diablo, or Devil’s Cauldron, a can’t-miss impressive and powerful waterfall on the Rio Pastaza, a tributary of the upper Amazon River Basin. Located amid a semi-jungle environment that is home to many species of birds and flowers, you’ll undoubtedly feel the incredible surge and thundering energy the waterfall releases, as the flow of the river crashes against the stone walls below. You’ll be totally encompassed and absorbed by the beauty and sounds. Have your camera ready as every angle will provide a moment that you will want to capture forever. After this visit, another adrenaline filled activity awaits you at the Agoyan waterfall where you’ll take a cable car across a ravine, giving you a close up of the waterfall. These two visits in Baños are two of the most magnificent sights to enjoy in the area. After a delicious lunch, you will return to Quito.

Dear Veronica,

My husband Pradip, Vajarias and I want to thank you for organizing our fantastic trip to Peru.

All the tour guides and the transfers were very smooth. Hotels were excellent. All the tour guides organized were very well informed and in Cusco our tour guide helped us to get to the airport safely when there was a transportation strike.

We had amazing experience in Amazon at Refugio Amazonas lodge too.

Thanks again.
