“If you have a passion for unique natural areas and exciting adventures, this trip is perfect for you.“
It begins with a scenic drive through the south of Quito and continues to Ecuador’s first National Park, home to Cotopaxi, one of the highest active volcanoes on earth reaching a height of 5,897 m (19,347 ft). During lunch, pamper yourself with the varied flavors of the area, while surrounded by the Andean paramo and its spectacular landscape. During the following two days you will marvel at one of the most famous towns in Ecuador, Baños de Agua Santa, located in the shadow of yet another majestic active volcano, the Tungurahua. This attractive area offers a magical landscape and exciting outdoor activities that will leave you revitalized after so many thrilling and adventures opportunities.
Shortly after leaving Quito, you arrive at Cotopaxi National Park. The outstanding sight is the imposing active volcano with its perfectly shaped cone topped by glaciers, visible from all over the region, making it one of the most iconic symbols of Ecuador. When entering the park, you’ll enjoy the hiking trail that loops around the Limpiopungo Lagoon. Your guide will explain more about the different species of birds, plants, and mammals that dwell in the area such as hummingbirds, fox, deer and the Andean condor among others. Continuing on with the day’s activities you will leave the highlands of Cotopaxi and descend into a contrasting atmosphere in Baños de Agua Santa. Very few places are as vibrant and energetic, or found among steep mountains, rivers, waterfalls, and hot springs. You’ll have time for a wonderful rest while you prepare for the following day’s adventure.
The morning is dedicated to exploring the Pailon del Diablo, or Devil’s Cauldron, a can’t-miss impressive and powerful waterfall on the Rio Pastaza, a tributary of the upper Amazon River Basin. Located amid a semi-jungle environment that is home to many species of birds and flowers, you’ll undoubtedly feel the incredible surge and thundering energy the waterfall releases, as the flow of the river crashes against the stone walls below. You’ll be totally encompassed and absorbed by the beauty and sounds. Have your camera ready as every angle will provide a moment that you will want to capture forever. After this visit, another adrenaline filled activity awaits you at the Agoyan waterfall where you’ll take a cable car across a ravine, giving you a close up of the waterfall. These two visits in Baños are two of the most magnificent sights to enjoy in the area. After a delicious lunch, you will return to Quito.

How much you enjoy your Galapagos adventure is going to be the quality of the boat and crew. In my case, working with Pablo Rea of Columbus Travel both were excellent. The guide was very knowledgeable, the crew were very helpful. They were always cleaning, and preparing for the next Zodiac excursion. All of the meals were very good and plentiful. The Galapagos is one of the top 10 destinations in the world, Do not miss it
Fantastic trip to Mindo! Thanks to Patricia (guide) and Patricio (driver) for the great experience. We learned a lot about Ecuador in general, flora and fauna. On our request, the zip line was added on the day spontaneously, which was awesome.
Hello Pablo, The trip has been excellent. It was a logistically complicated trip, but having assistance at every transfer point greatly simplified things. The two guides Javier (Quito); Allan (Guayaquil), went above and beyond. The crew of Horizon was also excellent. I am grateful for all your hard work, which led to an easy and smooth trip.
Sofia was great! I was worried about a wire transfer, but it all worked well. She was very helpful throughout the process and very responsive to emails. We had some issues with the boat, but Sofia stepped in and ensured everything went smoothly.
